privacy policy

what we collect, why, and what we don't do with it.

last updated · 2026-05-18

autocaptionr (“we”, “us”) collects only what's needed to caption your videos and keep your account working. this page explains what that is.

1. what we collect

account data

when you sign in with google, we receive: your name, email address, profile picture URL, and a stable google account identifier. we don't get your google password.

videos you upload

the video file itself, the file name, and basic metadata (duration, resolution) are stored on our backend (Convex) while a generation is in progress and afterward so you can re-download your result.

generation history

we store records of your generations: the settings you used, the output video URL, and status (succeeded, failed, refunded). this powers your “recent jobs” list.

billing data

payment is handled entirely by Lemon Squeezy. we receive the order id, amount paid, and which credit package — never card numbers. Lemon Squeezy has its own privacy policy at lemonsqueezy.com/privacy.

2. how we use it

  • to caption your videos and return the result to you,
  • to maintain your credit balance and order history,
  • to send you account or service-related emails (rare — no marketing by default),
  • to respond when you contact support,
  • to debug and improve the service.

3. what we do not do

  • we do not sell your data.
  • we do not use your videos to train models.
  • we do not show ads or sell ad targeting.
  • we do not share your data with third parties beyond the processing subprocessors listed below.

4. subprocessors

to deliver the service, your data passes through these vendors:

  • Convex — database, file storage, function hosting.
  • fal.ai — video transcription and caption rendering. videos are sent to fal.ai for processing.
  • Google (OAuth) — sign-in.
  • Lemon Squeezy — payment processing.
  • Cloudflare — site hosting and DNS.

5. retention

we keep your videos and generation records for as long as your account is active. you can delete a generation any time from the app — that removes both the source video file and the record. when you delete your account, we erase your videos, generations, and account data within 30 days.

6. your rights

you can:

  • see your generation history and balance in the app,
  • delete individual generations,
  • delete your entire account by emailing support@autocaptionr.com,
  • request a copy of your data (export) by emailing the same address.

if you're in the EU, UK, or California, you have additional rights under GDPR / CCPA. email us and we'll honor them.

7. cookies and tracking

autocaptionr.com (marketing) and app.autocaptionr.com use only the cookies required for sign-in to work (set by our auth backend). we don't use third-party analytics, ad pixels, or social trackers.

8. children

the service isn't intended for users under 13 (or 16 in the EU). don't create an account if you're under that age.

9. changes

if we materially change this policy, we'll email you and update the “last updated” date.
